About The Philadelphia Contributionship Insurance

In 1752, Benjamin Franklin and his fellow firefighters founded The Philadelphia Contributionship, the longest tenured insurance company in the country. We insure homes — where people put down their roots, where families are built, and futures take shape. Yet we don’t just insure dwellings; we protect the dreams of the people inside. The communities they comprise. The history that they make. For us, it all comes back to roots. Ours. Yours. And the future you seek to create and we seek to protect.

Everyone from the assessment, to the remediation, to the restoration of my flooded basement was professional, skilled, reliable and – really helpful and thoughtful in their dealings with me.

I expect insurance companies to try to cut corners, always say ‘not covered’ and try to get out of paying any cost to serve the client. PC is the opposite. They went above and beyond on everything. I can’t imagine a more responsive insurance co. They really have integrity. ( I know this is really glowing, but

Had policies with them for a few years. After a bad storm called to file a claim. This is when you realize what kind of company this is. So far extremely disappointed. Their contracted adjuster was the worst. Two weeks after the storm still have not been contacted for appointment.

We had ice damming in our gutter which caused a leak. They originally gave us $8,000 for repairs but retracted that payment. I had to apply for a loan to replace the whole roof and remediate mold. It took a long time to be approved for a no interest loan which was no fault of my own, just a long process. I have since received a cancellation notice due to neglect which is not true. The date for replacement and repairs has been set. They basically set us up after we payed thousands on the policy throughout the years

Buyer beware! While this home insurance is more reasonably priced, realize it’s for a reason….they don’t want to pay when there is a claim. My roof was damaged by a storm before Christmas & it took 8 months, an insurance adjuster & we still only received barely a quarter of the cost of a new roof! Needless to say they will never get my business again.

My situation started off great. they seemed to care about my home damage. I was trying to do most of the repairs myself, but it became too big. after we had to add some more issues to the claim I cant seem to get my adjuster to answer my calls and emails. Last time i talked to him it was let me get to my computer and I’ll call you right back. 4 days ;later nothing. I’m not sure but I’m feeling like I need to get an attorney involved now. Or my state insurance commissioner. It is starting to become a bit of a problem with no contact from them now at all.

Takes a long time to respond to policy holders, provides inaccurate estimates (I had a roof damage from a storm and they said the repairs fell below $1000, but a third party contractor said it was $1700 to fix), and the their adjustor/inspector takes a long time to schedule an appointment.

Update: it’s a work in-progress but they are working with the issues with the house gradually.

Update: I may be switching home insurace. The roof costed me over $3,000 to fix and Philadelphia Contributionship did not qualify me for the claim. I’m going to find out of they’ll honor my new claim out of emergency that I had to replace a broken water heater in January immediately since I have a toddler at home.

Without reason or warning my homeowners insurance increased by 53%! There were no claims, no upgrades on my home. I called today to find out why the significant increase 1) the person answering the phone had zero customer service and was sarcastic and rude to me 2) no solid answer. The only thing she said is “you should always expect an increase” and I said “but 53% is very excessive” …she didn’t get anyone in the phone with me.

I filed a claim due to backup of my sump pump. It was a very stressful time for me and my claim representative Joshua Kraft was very helpful and understanding. He was exceptional with following up with me and processing my claim quickly.
