As the oldest insurance agency in Shelby County, Rux Carter Insurance has been serving the needs of families and businesses in Central Alabama for over 100 years. Today, we’ve certainly come a long way from the “log books” of the past. Our office is equipped with the latest technology that enables us to provide our customers with the coverage, programs and pricing necessary to protect their families and businesses.

Our agency was established in 1906, by Mr. J.R. White of Columbiana, AL. In 1947, a close family friend, Rux Carter, purchased and incorporated the agency and it has been “in the family” ever since. Mr. Carter previously worked for Liberty National Insurance Company. He was a very active member of the community having served as an original board member of Shelby Memorial Hospital (currently Shelby Baptist Medical). He was also the first president of the Columbiana Kiwanis Club.
