NC Grange Mutual Insurance Company specializes in providing property insurance in the state of North Carolina. We are one of the largest writers of farm and rural coverage in the state and, in addition to our farm policies, we have several insurance products for homes, mobile/modular homes, churches, and small businesses. Operating since 1934, we understand the insurance needs of North Carolina property owners.

The State of North Carolina recognized and licensed NCGM in 1934 as an Assessable Mutual insurer. We have no stockholders and our rates are based on the combined experience of our policyholders. We operate similarly to a partnership or co-op and in some ways similarly to the North Carolina Auto Facility.

In our more than 80 years of service, we only assessed policy holders one time, that was following hurricane Hazel and before we carried reinsurance to stand with us to protect policyholders in large loss events. Since 1955 we have carried reinsurance to protect our policyholders and company surplus against large and catastrophic loss events.

Considering they write 70% of NC, open your eyes to why it takes them a little longer to pay a claim in a catastrophic event. Not to mention you are paying half less than with other companies. Good job NC Grange.

We had a pipe burst in our master bathroom. The leak flooded our master bathroom, master bedroom and living room. NC Grange had an adjuster onsite less than two hours of my husband calling. They worked fast and handled payments for everything other then our deductible. They repaired the leak, replaced all the flooring in the three rooms and painted. Recommend them to everyone!

Filed a claim for our roof due to obvious hail damage – they denied our claim based on the one area their 3rd party company actually looked over. They never contacted us via phone to discuss, only sent a denial letter that did not adress our claim in its entirety. We then requested an engineer review – desk review states damage does indicate large hail; however, they are stuck on a Jan 3rd date saying there was no hail at that time. We did not claim there was hail on that date – only that a storm occurred on that date with high winds, which damaged other areas of our home prompting a roof inspection. The customer service has been horrendous as well – they use a lot of 3rd party vendors and it’s difficult to get in touch with the correct individuals.

DO NOT use this company!!! Had I read reviews before our mortgage lender suggested them, we would not have purchased their insurance.

I will be cancelling my policy asap. They attempted to FRAUDULENTLY cancel my policy because the man came to do a quote for my fence and LIED that we had a trampoline in our backyard. OUR NEIGHBORS, which is divided by a tall wooden fence, have a trampoline. A huge trampoline. So how could you mistake a trampoline in our yard. There’s not even enough room in our backyard. So the company sent an email demanding I sign about having a trampoline before even verifying or asking any questions. She told me I should be happy they reached out to me before just cancelling my policy. Even though the person LIED I’m the one suppose to be happy that my policy wasn’t randomly cancelled. Then after telling her I was going to go with another company she stated “call me when you’re ready to cancel”. They obviously do not care about customers.

I have worked directly with many of the staff members in my line of work and everyone is always so polite and helpful. Their CFO (soon to be CEO) is amazing and their IT staff (specifically Libby) is hard working and incredibly knowledgeable. I can speak to the insurance quality but I can say you wont find better people to work with. They are always willing to help and be of service. Great team here to work with.
