About Lang Insurance

From humble beginnings, Steven J. Lang’s work ethic, focus on customers’ needs, and dedication to the local community have been the core of this successful business. Steve grew up in southwest St. Louis on “The Hill” and attended public schools. After majoring in business at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, he began his insurance career with Mutual of Omaha in November 1978. To alleviate the monetary pressure of straight-commission sales, Steve worked weekends managing a grocery store, twelve hours both Saturday and Sunday for 18 months.

This created the opportunity to always think of the customer’s needs first -a philosophy that he continues to practice. In August 1990, after working for Mutual of Omaha as an independent agent for more than a decade and receiving the Chairman’s Council Top Sales Award for 5 consecutive years. Steve started his own independent insurance agency, Lang Insurance, in the basement of his home. “I left to become independent,” he says. “I thought I could do a better job for clients because I can use multiple providers. I realized that one size doesn’t fit all.”
