Our family had similar problems with Compass Rose that other reviewers mentioned. During open season, look elsewhere for health insurance. No one has the amount of time needed to fix all of Compass Rose/UMR errors.

We do not recommend Compass Rose. They made countless mistakes with our claims which caused denials. It got to the point where I was shocked when mistakes weren’t made. During the year we used Compass Rose, I spent hours each week correcting their mistakes, refiling claims, and waiting months for the claims to then be approved. Compass Rose even approved a claim then reversed and said they wouldn’t approve — despite paperwork proving they’d previously approved the exact claim — in tortured logic they blamed me and I was out of pocket for the procedure! That’s when OPM got interested in Compass Rose’s mistakes. Compass Rose may be cheaper than other plans, but they’re cheap in quality as well. I thought it was just me, but I learned that every person I know using Compass Rose experienced the same problems. Stay away from Compass Rose and save yourself a lot of frustrations.

After seeing another review about problems with Compass Rose Health Insurance, I wanted to highlight our issues. Bottom line — Compass Rose/UMR make mistakes which cause claim denials. We tried sticking with them for years, because they’re less expensive, but they got worse. They made mistakes on 75% of our claims which often resulted in claim denials. While they’d admit their mistakes and reinstate the claims — only after me hounding them with proof — they kept making the same errors. After moving to another insurance plan, we pay a bit more, but the claims are completed quickly and with no mistakes — such a welcome relief when compared to Compass Rose/UMR’s incompetence.
