They suck. Super lazy. All they have to do is call the hospital and get my payments taken care of. But no, I get multiple payment notices from the hospital and I keep taking it to HR. And they contact someone at Chesapeake. Nothing. I had to do it myself to get it done. After a debt collector contacted me. Great job guys. Really setting an amazing example.

I guess it’s not a coincidence that their review rating is so low. I had mild knee injury that over a period of a month got worse. By the time I checked it out, the doctor told me I needed surgery. The insurance did not cover me because I did not report the injury within 30 days. Out of good faith, as soon as I hurt my knee, I could have easily tried to collect insurance money but waited to make sure I was fine. When the surgeon told me I needed the surgery (my work requires me to be physically active), I made my claim which was refused. After years of paying money to get a protection in case of injury, I realized this company was a scam. After I threatened to sue them because they were completely unethical, they offered to refund me all the money I had paid over the years, which was less than I would have been paid if they had held their end of the bargain. Unethical company.

I give Chesapeake 5 stars because they do their job – they service their policyholders. That may or may not mean actually helping the injured worker the way they are seeking. Often times they don’t help the injured worker the way the injured worker wants. But it’s an adversarial process. That’s why you get a lawyer. When I read the reviews that say they were unfair to me, I just want to scream “Get a lawyer!!” My office has vast experience with this company – we are the lawyers who fight them in court!

My husband was hurt at work in April of 2021 and was told by a specialist that he needed surgery on his back. It is now September and he still has not received that surgery. They required him to get two MRI’s, which the second recently showed that his back was getting worse. They also required him to return to work on light duty (so they wouldn’thave to pay his full amount), which has put his back health in jeopardy. Even the surgeon was flabbergasted by this. They have also stated that they refuse to talk with my husband because my husband is being represented by a lawyer. This is an extremely unprofessional company, I have no idea why they are letting my husband suffer for over 5 months when he is in absolute agony everyday. I will be filing a complaint with the state of Maryland for this absolute disgusting display of unprofessionalism. All my husband wants is to get the surgery so that he can return to work.

Overall bad company to work with. There communication is antiquated. They are most expensive. Awful experience. I couldn’t imagine how awful it would be to work there.

I would not recommend using this company if you are a small business owner. The process of estimating your exposures often leaves a financial burden on your company at the end of the year after completing the audit.
