Blackbelt Insurors was founded in 1981 by Eddie W Pruett as Pruett’s Insurance Agency. Its office was located in a small back room in the Pruett Oil Company building located on Hwy 80 in Uniontown, Alabama.
In 1984, he purchased the T I Moore Insurance Agency in Marion and a branch office was formed which is now the home for the main office in Marion. In 1991, Charlotte Doss, a high school classmate and longtime friend, joined the agency force. The branch office grew from there and in 1994, he purchased the Richardson Agency also located in Marion.
In 1998, Pruett and Doss formed a partnership and incorporated into Blackbelt Insurors Inc and moved to their current location at 1205 Washington Street in Marion while also maintaining a branch location at 1170 Washington Street in Uniontown, Alabama.
