I have paid several thousand dollars for “comprehensive” insurance with this company for the last few years. Whilst my boat was stored safely a rat chewed the telltail hose in my engine cowl which resulted in a flooded motor, locked piston and catastrophic failure of the engine when it was run The engine had less than 200 hours on it. The claim was knocked back because ‘vermin’ caused it. This ‘clause’ was a classic hidden fine print escape clause that lacks any integrity, no empathy or morals at all. This should be paid but will not be and I am now footing the bill for a new engine ($14,000) that I can not afford. I am making a video of my story which will be aired soon on one of Australia’s most popular marine YouTube channels with over 260,000 subscribers and many millions of views. It’s going to point out the lack of integrity that this company has displayed in my dealings with it. I know this will not get my engine replaced but it will defiantly prevent many hundred, if not thousands, of boaters dealing with you and suffering the disappointment that I have. Reading my policy has shown me that “comprehensive” insurance is anything but comprehensive and calling it that is deceitful and misleading.

I used to rate this organisation 5 out of 5 until this years premium renewal up over 85% or in excess of $1000. On top of that they used to offer monthly instalments at no extra charge. Big tick on that as well. Now they premium fund it and charge 8% interest on top of the price gouge. To top it all off only advised with short renewal period left making it impossible to make alternative arrangements. Eye watering gob smacking price increase and sadly pretty much a tell it to somebody who cares response from management. Phone contact staff do their best with what appears to be limited management options provided.

This insurance is happy to take your money but when you have a claim they disappear and then offer you a third of your quote for repairs don’t insure with them if you want your boat fixed

As a semi-retired Insurance Broker, I now insure my boats through New Wave Marine. Responsive service, complete but not complex documentation, good cover, realistic premiums. Did not require survey for my trailer sailer.

Only beef is waiting for ‘call-back’.
