If your insurer hands your claim to Crawfords, refuse access and request another assessor. I’ve had two claims on two different houses progress through Crawfords, the first was from water ingress during a storm event and was denied as a “maintenance issue” – I hired a roof plumber who not only proved them wrong but fixed the problem for $750. Never had a leak since. Had a builder review the claimed maintenance issue who said the condition of the cladding wasn’t relevant as it had another layer under it that was appropriate and in good condition. I also had an engineer to review the roof design and do new calcs and found no issues. The second claim on another property again after a major storm event was also described as a “maintenance issue” and denied. The insurer subsequently decided to honour the claim and handed it back to Crawfords to organise the repairs who then did a scope of work that did not include all the damage and wouldn’t budge and will only use a building company that has poor reputation so I will not use them. Still talking with the insurer to try and work it out and seeking my own assessment and quotes from local tradies.

If I could give them -5 stars, I would. Allianz put our claim through them & they have been absolutely useless. If your insurance company puts your claim through these guys you might as well retract your claim because nothing will get done & I mean NOTHING!!!

On 6 March 22, my home was significantly impacted by storms. As Allianz was my insurer, Crawfords was appointed to assess my claim. Chris Harris of the Melbourne office contacted me and advised that he would be handling my case. In the days that followed, he either phoned or emailed me daily, providing advice as to what was happening and where the matter was up to. I spent 25 years managing staff, and in particular, customer service. To say Chris was outstanding is an understatement. He went above and beyond what I expected, and is a genuine asset to the company. Based on my experience, I would not hesitate to recommend Crawfords.
