About Australian Unity

Australian Unity is an Australian mutual company having its origins in the friendly societies movement. It was formed as the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows (MUIOOF) in Melbourne, Victoria on 7 December 1840 by eight men including Thomas Strode, publisher of the Port Phillip Gazette, and Augustus Greeves, inspired by Independent Order of Oddfellows Manchester Unity. In 1993, Manchester Unity merged with the Australian Natives’ Association to form Australian Unity. Later mergers occurred with Grand United Friendly Society in 2005, Lifeplan Australia Friendly Society in 2009, and Big Sky Credit Union in 2012. Australian Unity has about 8,500 employees across healthcare, insurance, and banking (in the guise of Big Sky Credit Union) divisions.

Definitely recommend the Spring St Melbourne dental clinic – I have sensitive gums and the dentist and nurse were fantastic – they could sense my anxiety and put me at ease, so I had a pain free consultation. Very professional and caring team!

AUSTRALIAS OLDEST HEALTH PROVIDER STILL LIVING IN THE PAST. Don’t bother with this health insurance provider. I have been with them 9 years and have just found out you cannot use your hicaps to claim for 2 different health services in one day. When questioned about this the rude customer service rep told me to bad that’s how our system is. So if you are a person who has a limited amount of time to get things done and let’s day book in for a dentist check up then then head to your physio after that then just know that you will be paying the full fare when you go to the physio. Get with the time Australia unity. You said it’s the way the system is programmed. Here’s a tip, reprogram it

Returning 6mil to their members due to reduction in their claims during Covid lockdown 2020 by adding 3 days to member’s policy.

In my case this only equates to $56 for top of the range hospital and extras. Other health insurances are offering cash into members bank accounts, anywhere from $80 to $120.

Great way to camouflage what your exactly not paying out, to what members are truly entitled to!
