April is just around the corner, and in addition to Easter, that month will bring with it the adjustment of the clock for the already healthy -known summertime.
On this occasion, it will be time to advance the clock one hour in some entities of the Republic so that you are not late or confused with the dates. Here, we leave you everything you should know about summertime 2022.
When is the 2022 time change?
Summertime will begin this Sunday, April 3, the date on which you will have to advance the clock one hour. To avoid confusion, it is recommended to submit it on the night of Saturday, April 2, just before going to sleep, to wake up with the new schedule.
It would help if you kept in mind that the time adjustment is not the same in all states. For example, in the border strip, the time changes when the United States does it on March 13.
While Sonora and Quintana Roo do not adjust the clock according to summertime, in some months of the year, the rest of the entities have a different time from those two states.
Why is daylight saving time done in Mexico?
Since 1996, summertime has been implemented to make the most of sunlight and thus reduce electricity consumption by using sunlight.

What is Daylight Saving Time?
Daylight saving time is the legal time set by states in the summer to conserve energy. It is due to adding an hour of use for the rest of the year. With this shift, sunrise and solar noon and sunset occur later.
Why was Daylight Saving Time established in Mexico?
For more than two decades, the Mexican government has decided to use the hourly variation, whose main objective is to take advantage of natural light during the day to reduce the use of electrical energy.
Enacted in 1996 and published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), the measure establishes summertime and facilitates trade in some country areas.
When does the time change in Mexico in 2022?
Daylight saving time will start next Sunday, April 3, and will end on Sunday, October 30, that is, for more than six months, and then it will return to standard time so that the clocks will be delayed.
Places where Daylight Savings Time is NOT applied
- Baja California : Ensenada, Mexicali, Rosarito, Tecate and Tijuana.
- Chihuahua : Ascension, Ciudad Juarez, Coyame, Guadalupe, Janos, Manuel Benavides, Ojinaga and Práxedis G. Guerrero.
- Coahuila : Ciudad Acuña, Guerrero, Hidalgo, Jiménez, Nava, Ocampo, Piedras Negras and Zaragoza.
- Nuevo Leon: Anahuac and Los Aldamas.
- Tamaulipas : Camargo, Ciudad Mier, Ciudad Miguel Alemán, Ciudad Río Bravo, Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, Heroica Matamoros, Nueva Ciudad Guerrero, Nuevo Laredo, Reynosa, Río Bravo and Valle Hermoso.
These areas usually turn back the clock weeks before and are the only areas that should not make this movement on April 3 next. For commercial reasons, they are synchronized with the United States spindle, mainly between Sonora and Arizona.
