A 57-year-old HS tutor replied –
I, too, have come from a parent-pleasing district where students and parents aren’t held responsible for any deterioration in their kid’s academics. Instead, if a student doesn’t pass a test, the district starts breathing down the tutor’s neck, stating you need to make this child pass.
So many times, even if the child did not pass, there was pressure to make them pass by boosting their academic prowess in an unrealistic time frame. As a result, the parents constantly bark at the school district, and the district barks at the administration, leading to the admin barking at us. That’s the situation at my teaching district.”
