Mr. Bean’s Daughter: The Rise Of Lily Sastry

Rowan Atkinson

Rowan Atkinson is one of the greatest and most famous comedians of all time. His character of Mr. Bean has shown him to be a master of physical comedy akin to a modern-day Charlie Chaplin, while his humorous deadpan monologues illustrate his expert use of language and timing.

His personal life, however, hasn’t gotten quite the same amount of press as his career. In fact, he seems to keep his family life fairly private.

Who Is Rowan Atkinson?

Rowan Atkinson is an English comedian who is best known for playing the long-running character of Mr. Bean, as well as the titular character in the sitcom Blackadder.

Before he started in comedy, Rowan’s career trajectory looked like it was going to take him someplace completely different. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Newcastle University, then took a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at The Queen’s College, Oxford. He was in the middle of an Electrical Engineering Ph.D. program when fame struck.

Yes, that’s Rowan in an afro.

Throughout his time in Oxford, Rowan had dabbled in acting and comedy, participating in the Experimental Theatre Club and the Oxford University Dramatic Society.

The show was a success and led to Rowan being cast in the starring role of Blackadder, which would go on to run for four series. Blackadder garnered widespread acclaim for Rowan, and it would lead to his most iconic role, Mr. Bean, in 1990.

Later in his career, Rowan would also become known for his appearances in cinema, showing up in an extensive movies list that includes Four Weddings and a FuneralLove ActuallyTooth, and two Mr. Bean movies.

Aside from film and TV, Rowan has also appeared onstage for theatrical productions, such as the West End performance of the musical Oliver!

Did Rowan Atkinson Die?

You might be wondering why we’re asking this question. Strangely, there have been several hoaxes about Rowan Atkinson’s supposed death. None of these are true, and Rowan is very much alive.

Who Is Rowan Atkinson’s Daughter?

In 1986, Rowan met Sunetra (Susan) Sastry, a make-up artist on the set of Blackadder. Together, they had two children, Lily Sastry and Benjamin Atkinson. Rowan and Sunetra split up in 2014 and formally divorced in 2015.

Lily was born around 1995, which makes her between 23 and 24 years of age. While she hasn’t given any reason why she’s now known as Lily Sastry, the change came hot on the heels of Rowan’s announcement that he was going to have a third child with his new partner, Louise Ford.

Lily grew up with her parents in the countryside. They had several homes, including one in Northamptonshire and one in Oxfordshire, and at some point, she went to a boarding school in Oundle. She’s a British national by birth.

What Is Lily Sastry’s Career?

Like her father, Lily is a performer, though a very different kind than Rowan! She’s a burlesque dancer and cabaret singer, who first performed in a sold-out show at The Pheasantry in 2016.
