Murphy beds, sometimes referred to as pull out beds, are beds that fold down from the wall and can be made out of many different materials, including metal, wood or even canvas (think camping!). Murphy beds are known for their convenience and space-saving capabilities, but now there’s another benefit – a murphy bed can become an office during the day! With this project guide on how to make a murphy bed that converts to an office, you’ll be able to easily create your own murphy bed that fits your lifestyle and functions exactly how you want it to.

How to Make a Murphy Bed

Murphy bed are so convenient for those who want the convenience of having both an office and extra space. But there’s one thing most people don’t know: you can make your own! Here’s how:

  • Get some plywood and cut it down to size. The height should be twice as high as the desk is long, and the width should match the mattress size.
  • Get some hinges.
  • Install the hinges on one end of the plywood, then attach them to the wall on either side of where you want your desk (make sure they’re flush against it).
  • Lay out your mattress on top of the plywood, making sure not to cover up any of the hinges.

Recommended Sites about Murphy Beds

Some people enjoy having the ability to convert their bed into an office space. It’s not for everybody, but for those who want it, there are plenty of ways to do it. One way is with a Murphy Bed. Murphy beds are typically found in apartments and small living spaces where there is little room, or they can be purchased as part of large furniture sets.

There are two types of Murphy Beds: wall mounted and free standing. The wall mounted version folds up against the wall when not in use while the free-standing version folds up against the floor when not in use.

How I Made My Office/Bed

I had an idea for making a Murphy Bed, which would convert from a bed into my office. I originally wanted it to be made of wood but I couldn’t find the right design so I settled for PVC piping. It was easy enough to construct and took me about two hours with some help from my dad.

The most difficult part was getting the height right because when you’re sitting at your desk, it’s not very comfortable. But overall, this project turned out pretty well and has been incredibly useful during finals week!

Conclusion

Murphy beds are great for small homes or apartments. They’re space-saving and functional, but they’re also expensive. You can save money by making your own murphy bed with these instructions.

Measure the room height and width, then measure the height of the mattress you plan on using.

Cut two pieces of plywood or particleboard so they’re both at least six inches taller than your mattress is long.

Cut four more pieces of plywood/particleboard so that each piece is as wide as one side of your mattress and about three feet long (depending on how high you want the headboard).

Screw these four pieces together into a rectangle shape with screws, then attach them to the other two boards using hinges.
