Fast Interviews Interviews last usually between 15 to 20 minutes. Most applicants meet face-to-face with hiring managers to discuss topics such as education, work history, and availability.

A typical interview is required for entry-level jobs. The company keeps the process informal and professional for the applicant.

Preparation Techniques

Display Fashion Sense
Marshalls is still a fashion-focused department shop retailer. This means that job candidates may have to display some fashion sense and include some personal style. Interviewees should dress professionally.

Be personable

Marshalls candidates must demonstrate customer service skills as well as an interest in fashion. Marshalls applicants need to be able and willing to answer questions by referring back to work experience. Workers should be able to communicate clearly and confidently, and they must also have personable personalities and good interpersonal skills.

Interviewer, Please describe your job title as well as primary duties.
Marshalls Employee My job title was Cashier. I also had to hang clothes up in the storage. I don’t know if there’s a better way to describe it, but I just hung clothes and did mainly check out. So I was the checkout girl. Once some stuff has accumulated, I’ll sometimes take it back. Other than that, I merely checked out.

Interviewer. What was your favorite aspect of working there?
Marshalls Employee The hours. I was able to work very long hours. I was able to manage my own schedule to fit my schooling.

Interviewer, Please describe your typical day as an employee.
Marshalls Employee First, I’ll go into the fitting rooms. I’ll give the items to them, then they’ll stick it on their item. They will need to be checked again when I return because there was a lot of theft at that time. Please make sure that you return the correct items and then I’ll forward them to the front. Then I’ll go up to the front for lunch and then work the rest.

Interviewer How would you describe the application and interview process.
Marshalls Employee The application was OK. The interview process took quite a while. I arrived at the office, filled out an application, and shook hands. “I’ll contact you,” they replied five days later. Then I went on for another interview, spoke with the assistant manager, then returned to speak to the head manager. He called me again five days later. I went in to start work.

Interviewer. What questions did the interviewer pose during the job interview?
Marshalls Employee. “Am I an effective team player?”. This includes my timeframe, available hours, and how I will collaborate with others in different situations. That’s it.

Interviewer, What other advice would a job seeker seeking employment offer you?
Marshalls Employee Marshalls has a great store. I will also say connections. Although it’s not something I would recommend, find someone who works there. They are slow to get back to you, as well as the application process. You can also ask a family member or friend to help you move forward.
