How to buy a car insurance policy in monthly installments?

Buying a car insurance in installments is quick and easy. The first step is to make a quote and see if the monthly payment option is available.

By choosing the monthly payment, the annual price of your car policy is divided into 12 convenient monthly installments that will be automatically charged to your credit card at each expiration.

Think, for example, of the monthly payment of your telephone rate, the home internet network or the Pay-TV subscription. It’s the same!

Linear’s installment policy does not provide for the intermediation of a financing company, so if you choose this payment method, no credit procedure will be opened and you will not have to pay any additional interest to financial companies. To manage your monthly policy, the price of the installments includes only a small increase in the Motor TPL premium for splitting rights and management costs.

Monthly payment and insurance coverage

If you choose the payment option in 12 installments with monthly charge on a non-rechargeable credit card, when purchasing the policy, you pay only the first installment immediately and your car is covered for the first month of the contract.

For example: if the start date of your policy is July 15th, by purchasing the policy you pay the first installment immediately and you will be covered for one month, until August 15th.

Your credit card is associated with the policy and the payments of the subsequent installments, from the second to the twelfth, will be automatically charged to your credit card 5 days before each monthly expiry of the insurance coverage.

For example: if the first month of coverage is from 15 July to 15 August, the second installment will be automatically debited on 10 August, to guarantee coverage for your vehicle from 15 August to 15 September. And so on in the following months.

After each charge, the coverage is renewed for a new month: we will send you the confirmation of the payment and the updated documents so that you can continue to circulate (Insurance Certificate and Green Card).

If the validity start date of your policy is the last day of the month, the expiry of the coverage will always be the last day of the month, even in the case of months with fewer days.

Suspension and reactivation of the policy

If you want to suspend your policy, you can do it online in a few clicks: access the Personal Area , select the “Policy management” function (corresponding to your policy) and click on the «Suspend» link.

You can suspend the policy from a minimum of 5 days to a maximum of 30 days for each period of insurance coverage (monthly) and for a maximum of 12 times until the annual expiry of the contract: the expiry date of the contract is extended by a number days equal to the suspension period except in the case in which you request reactivation in the first 5 days of suspension.

Example: Your coverage month runs from July 15th to August 15th and you decide to suspend your policy from July 20th. If you reactivate it by 25 July, the contract expiration date will not be extended; if you reactivate it on July 30, it will be extended by 10 days.

You can reactivate the policy directly online, by accessing your Area . If you do not reactivate the policy within 30 days of the suspension, it will be reactivated automatically.

Example: Your coverage month runs from July 15th to August 15th and you decide to suspend your policy from July 20th.

Can I change my credit card?

The credit card entered at the time of purchase is automatically saved as a default for the debit of subsequent monthly installments and all the management services of your policy

You can change the associated credit card, or add another one, at any time from your Area corresponding to your policy.

What happens if a payment fails?

Five days before each monthly expiry of the insurance coverage, the installment is automatically debited from your credit card.

In case of non-debit of the installment, we will notify you via email and text message: check the expiry date of the card or the available ceiling and access the Personal Area to insert a valid credit card. We will proceed with new debit attempts in the following days.

If the new debit attempts are also unsuccessful, after 15 days from the monthly expiration date, the policy is automatically canceled: the Motor TPL coverage and any additional coverage will not be operational and you will not be able to circulate with your vehicle or park on public land.

Limitations

The monthly payment is reserved for motor insurance only and may be subject to limitations. Payments via rechargeable cards (eg Postepay) are not accepted.
