1. COMEDY IN BRISTOL 2

022

There are hundreds of comedy gigs and concerts in Bristol in 2022, some rescheduled from last year, some brand new. Our pick of the best includes Russell Brand doing stand-up on the strangeness of the last 18 months in Ashton Gate Stadium in May, the fantastically funny deadpan comedy stylings of Jimmy Carr’s Terribly Funny Tour in Bristol Hippodrome in January and world-renown comic Alan Carr in September in the same place.

2. MUSICALS IN BRISTOL 2022

What is it that makes musical theatre that bit extra special? We love welcoming world-class shows to Bristol and 2022 does not disappoint. This year, we’re delighted to welcome the touring production of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, adapted from C S Lewis’ beloved tale about four children who are whisked away from wartime Britain into a fantastical land of snow. The show comes to the Bristo Hippodromein May 22.If fairy tales aren’t up your street, wait until August ‘22 and enjoy The Bat Out Of Hell rock’n’roll musical by Jim Steinman based on the Meat Loaf album.

From 26 to 30 January the city celebrates silent, visual and classic on-screen comedy in the Slapstick Festival.
